6 January, 1862: Monday

Union - Government
President Lincoln meets with General McClellan, now recovered from his illness - speculated to have been typhoid fever. He rejects a move from Radical senators to remove the geeral for lack of action.

President Lincoln also writes to Buell in Kentucky, expressing his distress over "our friends in Kentucky", urging - but not ordering - military advance in the area.
